I hope you all had an incredible Christmas, and that it was a wonderful time with your family and friends! There's always so much of a build up before Christmas with all the hustle and bustle. I pray that your day was filled with love, laughter, and remembrance of the greatest gift of all!
With the Christmas season coming to an end, one more grand celebration is on the horizon: NEW YEARS! Who else is in shock that 2016 is already coming to a close?! With such a quick turn around between holidays, it can leave some of us in a scramble. Which creates yet another predicament, what to wear?! If you're not sure what to wear this New Year's or on the look out for a new look to try, I have some ideas for you! These are some of my favorite looks and trends that will hopefully leave you feeling festive and fabulous!
Outfits to Rock This New Year's Eve
1. Long-sleeve Sequin Dress
Sparkles are almost a necessity for New Year's Eve! When else is it acceptable to wear head to toe sequins?! haha. I love sequin dresses with intricate patterns and unique details, like an open back. For those east coasters living in freezing temps, long-sleeve dresses are almost a must. I love the look of this long-sleeve sequin dress.
2. Long-sleeve Lace Dress
Along the lines of dressing for the weather, a long-sleeve lace dress is another great option! A dress like this is really versatile and can be worn again and again. Think weddings, cocktail hours, or a fancy date night. You might already have on sitting in your closet!
3. Velvet Romper
Like I said in last week's post, I have a new thing for velvet. Velvet mixed with a fun romper, what more could you want?! The romper gives it a unique flare, while the velvet makes the outfit seem more festive. This is also a look that you could recycle for a holiday get together next year.
4. Sequin Blazer
This outfit also embraces the sparkle that goes along with NYE. Not only is this outfit warm, but it's also easy to put together. Many of the pieces you might already own! Throw on black skinny jeans, with a black blouse, and your only purchase will be the sparkly blazer!
5. Sparkly Tweed Shorts with Tights
I love this look! Who said you can't mix and match pieces from different seasons?! Pairing different items together that wouldn't normally be paired, creates a unique look. Shorts that have different prints or are made of dressier fabrics, would be perfect for a different NYE look. If you pair a fun pair of shorts with a pattern tight, you'll be set!
6. Leather Pants with a Sequin Top
One staple I think every gal should have in her closet is a great pair of leather pants. As a New Yorker, these are a constant go-to for me in the winter months. They're easy, warm, and jazz up any outfit. To make a simple NYE outfit, just throw on some leather pants, paired with a fun sparkly top, and some heels and you're set!
7. Fur Vest with a Dash of Sparkle
Fur is a fashion must during the winter! What better way to make a cozy, fashion-forward outfit, then with a dash of fur! A fur vest is a great staple for any wardrobe. I have a black and brown one and wear them ALL the time. It adds an extra dose of fabulous to any outfit. For New Year's Eve add fur to a long-sleeve dress, crop top, or leather pants and you're good to go.
I hope you have some new ideas for a New Year's Eve outfit if you're feeling stuck and in a scramble. Remember, this is your time to go out side of the box and diverge from your normal style! Sparkles, glitter, and glam are all game!
For my NYE outfit, I pulled out a dress from my closet that I bought a year ago for this exact occasion! Last year, I fell in love with this dress at Banana Republic but couldn't justify buying it, when I didn't really have an occasion to wear it. At the end of January, I found it on the sale rack at an extra 50% off! For $17 I couldn't pass it by! I thought I would definitely at least be able to wear it next New Year's and a year later, here it is! Even though it's a pretty jazzy dress, I still wanted to dress it up with some statement jewelry. Since it's a pretty basic neckline, I paired it with a gem stone collar necklace, simple bracelet and rings. Since it is FREEZING in Ohio, I added some pattern tights and the look is complete!
Sequin Dress- $17 Banana Republic (bought off season at an extra 50% off sale)
Statement Necklace- $15 Forever 21 Buy one HERE!
Frugal Tip: Shop during the off season! If you find a piece you love, at a great price, buy it! You will definitely wear it! Styles don't really change much season to season, it will more than likely still be in style. And you'll be even more thrilled that you got it at a fraction of the price.
Praying you have a great year, filled with love, laughter, joy and purpose. The best is yet to come!
Cheers to 2017!
