One of the most famous rules of fashion is... "Don't wear white after Labor Day." While, I don't necessarily adhere to all these ridiculous rules of fashion, one thing I do embrace about summer fashion, is wearing white! I love the crisp, clean look! Even though white is very simplistic, wearing it can be tricky. In my opinion it all comes down to piece selection and styling. To get you summer ready, I wanted to give some simple styling tips on how to look great wearing white this season!Read More
The inspiration for this week's post came from my Easter dress this year! I LOVED my dress and was basically obsessed with it. Haha. I hadn't worn this shade of lilac in a long time, so I was a little bit unsure of how it would go. The color was so cheery, I didn't want to take it off! It inspired me to reach outside of my normal color comfort zone and seek out more dresses and pieces in the pastel palette.Read More

After surviving Snowmageddon 2017 earlier this week, the thought of spring and warmer weather is hard to wrap my mind around. I feel like this year will be one of those years when we go straight from winter to summer with only a few weeks of spring. With that being said, spring is one of my favorite seasons, fashion wise! I love being able to branch out and shed the winter layers. Putting away the bulky sweaters and replacing them with florals and fun shades just brings such life! Spring fashion brings a great energy and excitement that I always look forward to.
Spring fashion has a few trademark looks that always seem to stick around, florals, pastels, and feminine pieces. However, each year there seems to be a little twist and update added to the current trends. For those wanting to embrace spring fashion and stay on top of trends, I decided to create a post that sums up some of the best trends to look for this season!
Top Spring Fashion Trends
I love LOVE ruffles! This love affair probably started as a child. You can ask my mother! Dresses were my go-to daily outfits, and the rufflier the better! Ruffles add such a feminine touch to any outfit. Ruffle tops are definitely in for spring and add such character to any outfit!
2. Fun Sleeves!
Fun sleeves has been a trend that has been around since fall, and it's not going anywhere! This is also a great trend that I'm in love with! Bell sleeves are just the start! This spring you'll see a ton of different tops with ALL kinds of sleeves. I love the sleeves with unique draping and accent bows. Off the shoulder tops are also sticking around this season! Pairing a top with fun sleeves with a simple pair of jeans, creates a perfect spring look!
3. White white!
Usually the spring time is all about colors! This spring is no different, color is definitely in! However, one of this season's trends is white everything! Tops, bottoms, jackets, dresses, you name it! There's a crispness that white gives to any look. As a fashionista you want to look as fresh as possibly this spring!
4. Lace-up everything!
Laces were definitely a trend this fall that is sticking around. For the spring, they are taking on a new life. A little bit more feminine and not so edgy. You'll find laces on all sorts of pieces. Anything from shoes to tops! For spring, I'm loving lace up tops with tassel details.
5. And of course floral!
You can't enjoy spring fashion without a good floral print! Florals are always in for spring. Each season they are reinvented in a new way. This season seems to be all about large bold floral prints. Steer away from subtle or smaller prints. Light and airy pastel florals are on trend. So be on the look out for fun tops to mix and match with different looks!
This week's look is inspired by some of my favorite spring fashion trends! As you might have noticed, I have a slight obsession with off-the-shoulder tops. :) So naturally I found a way to incorporate one into this outfit! I love the freshness of white for spring and the fun sleeve trend, so I love how this top from the LOFT incorporates both! Even though it IS spring, I couldn't get away from an edgy pair of black ripped jeans. ;) I like the look of incorporating a feminine top and an edgier pair of pants. I accessorized the look with suede neutral lace-up sandals and a simple gold collar necklace to accentuate the fun neckline of this top!

Even though it might still be FREEZING outside, I've got spring on my mind! We still have piles on PILES of snow melting here in NYC! (I hope that'll be the last of that white stuff!) With spring around the corner, I hope all my fashionistas are feeling equipped and in the know about some of this season's hottest trends! The great thing is, most of these trends have been around and are just slightly reinvented! So for the frugal gals out there, this can mean just piecing together items already in your closet in a new and fresh way!
Here's to hoping spring comes soon loves!
March. The time of the year when the earth is confused as to what season it is. Haha. One day it's 70 degrees, the next it's 30 degrees and snowing! With this bipolar weather comes a constant dilemma of what to wear! The weather can be so unpredictable during this time of the year and consequently our wardrobe can be rather confused.
One of the best ways to tackle being fashionable during these early months of spring is by dressing in layers! Layers, layers, layers! I am a sucker for the layered look! So dressing in the fall and spring are always fun. This post is all about how about how to master the layered look without looking frumpy or like the Michelin man. :)
How to Master the Layered Look:
1. Pick different textures!
When creating a layered look you want to created dimension with all the different pieces involved. Layering cotton over cotton over cotton, just doesn't work and the look will fall flat. When wearing multiple articles of clothing you want to create diversity in pieces that make the outfit more interesting. So incorporating a knit with cotton, flannel, jean, and silk or polyester is a definite YES!
2. Use a variety of pieces!
You don't always have to stick to a certain "genre" of clothing. Feel free to mix and match casual, dressy, and career pieces. Just like using different textures, using a variety of pieces adds interest and dimension. It also spices it up for yourself and opens up the options for layering. You can pair a work button up with a pair of leggings and an oversized sweater, or a silk blouse with a flannel and ripped jeans. Mix and match styles for the perfect look!
3. Don't bulk up.
Creating a perfect layered look can be tricky. It takes skill and thought! It seems like it would be as simple as throwing a bunch of different pieces together and walking out the door but its not! The worst outcome would be an outfit that resembles a lumpy marshmallow. Yikes. Try and be careful as to the amount and types of articles you layer. I would say 3-4 pieces max. And steer clear of sweaters on sweaters!
Before this week's outfit it had been a wild weather week! From 70 degrees all the way to 25 degrees! INSANE! The perfect layered look was great for a sunny but chilly March day. I decided to go ALL IN with mixing and matching different styles and pieces. I wanted to create a cozy look that still had a dash of edge and spunk. I decided to start with a long sleeve ruffle blouse that I would normally wear with trousers to work and then layer on a jean shirt, topped with an oversized sweater. I paired these tops with ripped jeans and some heeled suede, gold buckle booties that I got for a great price at Marshall's. For accessories, I added a wool brim hat for a touch of warmth and sparkly tassel pendant. Although it was a bit chilly, these stylish layers kept me cozy and comfortable! Plus, I got SO many compliments on the outfit throughout the day!

Hope you feel equipped with some helpful tips to successfully layer this winter-spring season! You really can't got wrong, the more eclectic and mix matched the better!
Here's to hoping for more spring weather!
Credit cards, credit cards, credit cards! Many of you probably have a love-hate relationship with them! Whatever your opinion is, you certainly can't live without one. I've had quite a journey to come to a place where I don't think credit cards are of the devil. Haha.
As a frugal girl, I used to be adamantly against them, refusing to open one, despite all the enticing offers and constant junk mail. I didn't see the necessity of one, and simply thought it was a cruel way for companies to profit off your spending. After graduating college, I soon realized the value and importance of building credit and had to take the dive into applying for my first credit card. I ended up just getting a basic credit card that I would just pay off at the end of every month. It was a simple, quick way to build credit. Then I ventured into the world of rewards credit cards! As a penny pincher, the idea of getting rewarded monetarily for doing regular spending is a no brainer! There are so many great rewards cards out there, but I wanted to focus on retail store cards for this week's post for all the fashionistas and shopaholics out there!
We've all been at the checkout of our favorite store when they ask the age-old question, "Would you like to open a store credit card today?"
And I’m here to tell you that your answer should be YES! (Well, under certain conditions. Haha) I hope to give you some helpful pointers on how to decide on a worthwhile store credit card and how it can actually save you BIG bucks!
Tips on How to Decide on the Right Store Credit Card for You:
1. First, you should start by thinking of where you shop the most and spend the most money. This will help you get the most bang for your buck! Yeah, you might have heard that you can save an extra percent off your purchase today, but how often will you shop at the store? Even though it ends up saving you a little bit of cash in the moment, it’s not worth bringing your credit score down a few points with a new credit card application.
2. Do your research! The talking points that the sales clerks give you at the check out are only the highlights of the credit card perks. You want to be well informed about the pros and cons before taking the plunge. Is there a yearly fee? What is interest rate? Does the card operate on a points system or a cash rewards system? There’s a lot to think about before deciding on the right store credit card for you.
3. Pick the one that provides the right savings for you! Some store credit cards offer instant savings, like the Target credit card, while others offer store gift cards as a reward. Think about what will give you the biggest reward.
So for my store credit card of choice.... After much avoidance, I finally caved and got a Banana Republic credit card. Not only did I frequently get hassled at the register, but I also had heard amazing things from friends that were big fans of the card. I decided on this card because Banana is one of the stores I shop at the most! I also love how their card also applies to Gap and Old Navy. They have a great rewards system that entails store gift cards, which I can always find a need to use! ;) Their rewards are earned by points, and they frequently have great points promotions. They just had a month where you earned 3x the points on purchases outside of their stores! You also always get rewarded with an instant extra discount when making purchases within the store, which is a great perk!
So it may sound counterintuitive, but investing in a store credit card of your choice can actually save you money! If you exercise self control and are religious about paying it off every month, it can be a great way to add a little extra cash to your wallet.
Now a little bit about my outfit! I wanted to feature an outfit that is primarily composed of items from Banana Republic. This week's look is a business casual office look! Dressing for work can get so mundane. Nothing like creating a new outfit or making a new purchase to spice things up! I was so excited when I snagged this fun silk wrap dress at the extra 60% off sale at Banana Republic this holiday season for $14! I decided to add some simple pops of pizazz with a gold shimmer kitten heel, a simple gold knot bangle, and jewel stud earrings. I love sticking with simple color palettes but then adding pops of color through accessories!
Black Satin Pleated Dress - $14 Banana Republic (originally $148, bought on sale with an extra 60% off!)
Gold Sam Edelman Kitten Heels- $17 Marshall's (originally $120)
Jewel Cluster Earrings- $9 Banana Republic (originally $38, bought on sale with an extra 60% off!)
Gold Knot Bracelet- $1.99 Banana Republic (originally $48, bought on sale with an extra 60% off!)
So hopefully I've encouraged you to take a second thought next time you're at the register and get asked the age-old question about opening a store credit card! If you choose wisely it will end up being rewarding and saving you cash in the long run!

Now to tell you about my recent haul at Marshall's!... Unfortunately (or fortunately, whatever way you look at it haha) a brand new Marshall's just opened on the corner of my block! It's VERY dangerous. Conveniently located on my walk to the gym, lol. The other morning I stopped by looking for a jacket and I left with wayyyyy more than a jacket. It always works that way, doesn't it?! I needed a new light weight jacket for a recent ski trip, so I was SO happy to find a lot of winter items on clearance! When I walked in there were tables of clearance boots and racks of winter clothing, so stuffed you could barely walk in between the aisles! There were so many great deals, but I had to limit myself to the best bargains. I ended up finding a VIneyard Vines light weight down jacket for $20! I literally praised Jesus when I laid eyes on it! I also ended up getting a silk lace tank for $4, a lace up dress for $6, Sam Edelman sparkly kitten heels for $17, and another pair of Franco Sarto suede over the knee boots for $30! All for around $80! Can't beat that! Especially when the Vineyard Vines coat is normally retailed at $300!
This challenge is inspired by this amazing find! Now is the best time to shop winter sales! This proves you don't have to wait till the off season to get the best prices!
Frugal Tip: Shop during the ALMOST off season to get the best deals!
May the sales be ever in your favor!
